Dr. Brune joined American College of Healthcare Administrators (ACHCA) as a graduate student at the University of Missouri – Columbia. I remember that first day in class as a new 30-year old student, father and husband, what was I doing starting a new career in Post-Acute Care! Now, I have thirty plus years of experience in senior executive with experience in the finance, development, construction and operation of ambulatory care, pharmacy and senior housing and care facilities to include independent, assisted, memory care, skilled and sub-acute environments. My extensive corporate experience has been split between for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. I started my career in hospital administration focusing on off-site programs to include: sub-acute skilled care unit, senior/adult mental health program, home health and hospice services, rural health clinics, home medical care, assisted living, memory care, adult day care and retail/wholesale pharmacy operations. This life knowledge has served as a foundation for community- development, commercial construction and business development in various healthcare sectors. As a retirement community developer, he has professionally been responsible for the project management of 21 congregate living communities with over $183 million of new healthcare construction. I am a descendant of the Chickasaw and Cherokee Nations and currently serve as a Research Fellow with the Chickasaw Nation, focusing on healthcare issues facing the Nations elders. As I look back now, I would not change anything about choosing this line of business! I hope to continue to serve our senior care industry, my Nation, my Native American families and members of ACHCA to the best of my abilities!
